They took the arse of an Audi, the face of a Golf and stuck a Superbs interior inside. Well done VW, well done...

It's the Scirocco reworked for the american market which requires coupes with a 'trunk' rather than a hatch.

    Baby's first A5

Nice enough car on it's own though

since the demise of the Calibra, Cougar etc, there is a bit of a shortage of coupes based on regular hatchbacks/saloons. There would be a big enough market for these in Eastern Europe and America I think

Just looks like a 2 door version of the new Jetta.

"reworked" is a bit of an understatement tbh, they are obviously completely different cars, compare the dimensions...

I love the look of the Sirocco but the new coupe is pretty bland..it's funny how VW do that, some great looking cars and then some terribly boring ones.

They're the same to the b pillar, hardly what you might call completely different.

    I see

    Audi A4 Seating
    Skoda Superb Dash
    Citroen C6 Rear
    VW Polo Front
    Ford Focus 2010/2011 Steering Wheel

    and basically an A5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,080 ✭✭✭✭Big Nasty

    I see a cheap(er) A5!

I thought it looked alot like a bmw 320 coupe from the back to be honest when i first seen it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,577 ✭✭✭jaffa20

I have to admit that i'm really keen on the design. It's somewhere between a golf and a passat with regards size but is a lot more stylish than both.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Zonda999

Now why might i ask did VW have to clearly state that this yoke was only a concept!?

Usually concepts have some kind of interesting design or something radical. In real terms though, this would be a handsome car on the road, by the same precedent you might call nicely specced mk6 a handsome car, yes they pretty much copied the A5 but who cares, thats a great looking car on the road and has real presence!

....that's exactly what I thought, from the rear.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
