MOT Failure Rates

I don't think those stats really say much about any individual brand or model, the failure categories are too general. For example "Drivers View of the Road" means what.. a cracked or dirty windscreen, worn wiper blades? It's the same with "Lighting and Signalling", "Brakes" and "Tyres", I'd expect most failures are due owner neglect (blown bulbs, fuses, headlamp alignment, worn pads, bald tyres etc).

So, without qualifying why each item failed or at least excluding routine maintenance/consumables I don't think it's a particularily reliable measure of brand quality.

T'would be interesting to see if NCT produce anything similar though.

Checking the cars I have, theres a year of Panda where about 50% of all the cars tested had dodgy tyres - its not like a set of rubber for 13" wheels costs much!
