Hi, I am looking for a little advice regarding my sisters new business venture. The area is centred around healing therapies. She ntends to operate on a mobile basis as well as having a therapy room in my home. So far theses are the questions we have regarding this.
    • As she is a registered therapist her clients may be able to claim throught their health insurance depending on policies. Therefore she would need to issue receipts and be a registered company, I presume.
    • This venture is not going to be profit making for a very long time. As she has no clients as of yet and her business will depend on reputation which will take time to develop. So is there much point in being registered. She could easily not mention the privated helath insurance benefits.
    • How much and what is involved in being a small business.
    • Is there any funding available for something like this and if so where?
    • If she operates from her own home would she be lliable for rates?
To be honest I am of very little help to her as I know nothing about this area so any information would be grateful

not too clued in to the official line on this though if she is treating people and charging them she should be registered as a business. She will be allowed earn a certain amount every year before paying income tax, so if she is starting and its gonna take time before it becomes a booming business, she shouldn't have any qualms about setting up.Also if she has people coming to her home she should have public liability insurance. If for example a person comes to her looking for a treatment and comes away with a headache it would be good to have some forms of disclaimer etc before the treatment.likewise going in to peoples homes.
