Connecting Flights Through Expedia - what if cancellation?

(The title of this thread should be what if delay - can't edit the title)
    Hi,

Does anybody know what happens if you have booked flights through a site like Expedia, which involves connecting flights & a delay causes you to miss one of the flights?

I have seen a good deal on flights on Expedia from San Diego to Shannon but the trip involves catching 2 connecting flights in LAX & Heathrow and the whole trip is not with the same airline.

If one of the flights were to be delayed causing me to miss one of the connections where would I stand?
Would I have to arrange a new flight myself and pay for it or would Expedia (or the airline whose flight was delayed) cover this?

    Thanks

The airline would be responsible for looking after you.

For example, you had a ticket booked through Expedia with bmi from Dublin and United from London to Los Angeles. If your bmi flight was so late that you missed the onward flight, the airline would be responsible for getting you on to another flight.

Does anybody have any idea if Expedia are doing any deals this month?
