Hi, I would like to find out where exactly Traynors call to in Galway city. I am aware they call on a wednesday of each week but not where they stop.

For people unaware traynors is a car breakers in Northern Ireland. I have bought a few parts off them in the past. They are nearly certain to have any second hand part you may need. their website boasts of breaking 10,000 cars a year. They are also cheap from my own personal experience.
I'v posted a link to their website below

    http://traynors.biz/

Hope this may be of use to some folk considering the times we are in and how expansive and overpriced a lot of car parts are. Thanks for any assistance with the original query.

I got stuff off them two weeks ago. They stop in Castlegar Sports Complex car park. Directions: Galway clinic roundabout heading towards town, first left at the lights then first right into the car park. Expect a sizeable crowd.

Why would you not use the phone number they have on their website to call them and ask them?

Cos it was half one in the morning and they probably wouldn't take the call. And besides, he had two replys here, within an hour. Boards...is there anything it can't do?

very true. i apologise, no need for my cynicism, thought it might have been an ad given the low post count and all was just curious as to why boards would be better than calling them, i understand now

I cant recommend these breakers enough though.. just picked up a part for €40.. out of curiousity I telephoned a high profile garage in south east Galway and was told its €161 inc vat.. it takes a day to fit at €90 an hour and it could take 8 hours.. who are they kiddin!!!!!!!

    Part €40

    Fitting (a competent mechanic) €100

Satisfaction of hearing I saved €741..... priceless

And if you can't get there by car ('cos yours has broken down ;) )

... public-transport info for Roscam is on this page.

Yeah Traynors are very handy. Ring them up, order the part and they stick it on the truck.

You then go out, meet the truck, walk around the back, and there's a man with your part (like a right pikey!) - You can pay in cash too, but tbh it's easier on everyone to pay by CC over the phone

    Starts at 8/9 I presume?
As far as I can remember, they turn up around 11 or 12(open to correction) and the last time I was there, it was a pretty long queue, so get there early. Also, when I used them(quite a while back) they quoted the price in Sterling over the phone and if you paid in cash, the lads on the truck did a quick, not neccesarily accurate exchange rate. So, like posted above, you're probably better off paying up front over the phone to save any hassle.

Doesn't matter where you are in the Q - you've your parts ordered with your name on it.

As for payment, the poster above is right... if paying in Euro they do a quick conversion, so don't trust this route. Having said that, the last time I paid in Euro, they were spot on with the currency conversion - I reckon this was luck more than anything. For everyones sake, just pay with a CC over the phone!

I know that, but you don't want to spend any longer than necessary out in the current weather conditions, so Get There Early!! Last time I was there, I was almost an hour waiting between one thing and another.

    Get There Early!!

If everyone did that, you would be better off going there late :)

True. But if everyone went there late, they'd be gone.

What a coincidence I need to have a diagnostic tester plugged in to my Freelander. Literally plug it in & write down the fault number. Cost one hours labour at €90 per hour.

If you mechanic is good with Landrover please PM me with his number.

    Thanks
