I have terrible trouble looking for hairdressers in Dublin

They never seem to give me what i want and i have never really been happy

I have had more success with home dyes than most professional hairdressors

I am interested in hearing your experiences with colourists in Dublin

Lets make a naughty and nice list!:p

I have yet to meet a hairdresser that can really give me the colour i want...

And i am prepared to pay a what it takes ...

Essenuals Toni and Guy on South William Street Dublin are amazing, but pricey. I always save up for them!

I have had very good experiences with all the senior stylists and colourists there.

They are great to go to and their techniques are second to none. You are guaranteed an excellent hair cut and colour.

I have been going there for 3 years now and they were recommended to me by friends who have been going there for years also.

PM me if you need names for certain colourists :-)

+1 on Essenuals, I've been going there for years. As said it is pricey but you can get student cuts and colour afaik.

I recently paid €173.00 for full head highlights...in Rubens in Blanch centre...I nearly died as I've been going there for a while (they are good...but no hairdressers is worth that)...so I'm looking for another hairdressers to try...especially during these times...a cheaper one but not compromising on the quality...pref in Dublin 15 area if anyone can suggest any??

I was just going to say Style Club.

I had balayage done in there before Christmas and absolutely loved it. Will be going back!

I love You're Gorgeous in Stamullen (literally 5 minutes drive from Balbriggan)..they have another sister salon in Seabury Malahide called Absolutely Gorgeous. I got my full head of highlights and a cut for €65, as they have promos on, such as half price colour with a cut every Wed, and all services half price on a Thurs, plus €15 blowdry on a Tues! They are all really friendly, know their stuff and spend ages on you. They make you feel very welcome too, and don't turn their nose up at you, unlike some more pretentious salons! Hope this helps, I love going here! :o
    Check out their facebook page!

Rubens is a rip off I paid 58euro for a cut and blowdry, my bum was barely in the seat for 5minutes and she was finished! RIP OFF MERCHANTS!!

Neevy have you tried hair creations in roselawn they are quite reasonable and stylists are good. Or House of Colour in charlestown shopping centre isn't too far from d15 and all the stylists are good in there (they listen to what you want and don't just do what they wanna do like mos hairdressers!!)and they do special promos

Good experiences - House of Colour on Abbey Street, nice staff, lovely results with my colour and was happy with the overall service.

Khaki in Tallaght is well worth a try. I've started going there recently and am mad about the colour they are using on my hair at the moment. A few of the girls from my office go there and all swear by the place. Also, the cut I have now is probably the best I've ever had.

Bad experiences - I've had a few horrible Peter Marks do's but sure haven't we all?!?

I had to walk out of a consultation in another salon once because the stylist was texting on her phone as I was trying to explain to her what I wanted !

Hey was wondering what kind of colour you get done ??? I've gone around half of Dublin at this stage and I'm yet to come out of the hairdressers with
my hair the way I'd like it!!!!!!!!!! it's a nightmare. I'm naturally dark blonde and I'm looking for a few clean blondes put through it but always seem to come out looking way over coloured!!! Haven't been happy with colour from Peter Mark before but I might give Alex a try....fingers crossed :)

for highlights DEF Andrew Dunne in Zoo, he is brillant.... he doesnt actually highlights as in the way Peters maks / toni and guy etc... no strips, no fading, very little re-growth he costs me €160 each 8 - 10 weeks

    http://www.irishhairfed.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=97%3Awella-professionals&catid=41%3Acompetitions&Itemid=2

he won colourist of the year in Nov 2009....

For my cut i get adele from Zoo also... she's excellent.. €75 for a cut and blow dry :D

Would NEVER go near Peter Marks / Toni and Guy ever again.... they are a mass production site... never even watch what they are doing.... "GET THEM In and GET THEM OUT" as soon as possible mentality.... after going to Andrew i could never go back

I remember I used to dye my hair purple and blue.. I did this to the point my hair was breaking off.. and completely damaged.
I decided to pay to get my hair done in order save it.

It took me ages to decide on a salon to go to. In the end I chose Toni & Guy in Dundrum shopping center.

I had a consultation with the colourist there and she was extremely helpful! She went through all the options I had and made sure I was happy with what I wanted.

In the end I got a white-ish blonde..
    I absolutely love it.
My hair was so healthy, and still is healthy.
They thought they wouldn't be able to get all the dye out, but they managed it all in one session and my hair came out healthier than before! The girl doing my colour was so easy to talk to, and she made sure to give you want YOU wanted and not what she wanted!

The colour is exactly what I wanted, they even said that I could try putting more crazy colours in next time I go back!

It was quite expensive though; €240 :O
But they had to cleanse my hair a few times, then bleach it twice then do a treatment. I also got a new style from the head stylist + Bought some pro shampoos etc so I'm not sure how much colour alone would have cost. Definitely worth it though! I'll definitely be going there again.

Lucy in style club, shes amazing, have reccommended her to 6 or 7 of my friends who all have very different hair and all have found her to be brilliant. She listens and gives advice, and I often end up saving money because of her reccommendations, she totally puts your hair first. Bayalage sounds exactly like what the OP is after, natural highlights without a stripey 'dyed' look.
