Paddy Power have Cesc Fabregas to be Arsenals player of the year at 4/5

He is clearly a shoo-in for the award, this is unbelievable value...

He's definetly been one of the top 3 performers in the entire premier league this year, a perfect example being when he came off the bench against Villa a few weeks ago, arsenal where **** and in need of inspiration and he completely changed the game, scoring 2 great goals. What made it even more impressive was that he was clearly carrying an injury..

Surely a fantastic Investment? Thoughts appreciated..

Looks good alright, the only worry would be that he is injury prone and could end up missing a large chunk of the season, vermaelen has been a revelation for them but the main challenger to fabregas will be arshavin I think he could have a very good second half of the season

yep thats true. I just think theres loads of value in this bet, whoever wins it.. Cant seem 2 find any info on the actual award (history, who votes etc..)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭Onecoolcookie

As far as I remember Van Persie won it last year with Arshavin second

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 391 ✭✭oconnon9

    yep..
Henry won it 4 years ago and Fabregas won it 3 and 2 years ago, Van Persie last year...

Il post up the player of the months so far, as this gives a good indication as 2 who wins it..
The award is called O2/Arsenal player of the season (i think..)

Correction, it is now the EA Sports player of the month (because O2 parted company with arsenal)

    The winners this year:

    August - Vermaellen
    Sep - Vermaellen
    Oct - Fabregas
    Nov - Fabregas
    Dec - Fabregas

Ye it does like Fabregas is in the best position to win it again, hard to tell who will get January's award though

They only played 2 matches so far, one in the cup against west ham (won 2-1) and drew 2-2 with Everton in the league..

Still have 2 play Bolton twice, Stoke in the Cup and crunch matches at the end of the month against Villa and United...

Think Its between Fabregas and Vermallen...
at 4/5 and 10/1, back both and you'd make a bomb!

max bet is 255 euro.... unlucky!

still it woould nice 2 get 500 quid just before summer!!

Personally I don't like the bet, mainly due to injury problems this season. I don't think he'll play enough games.

Secondly, I'm not sure how Arsenal work compared to other clubs in player of the year awards but I know some clubs take a vote from supporters for player of the year, which is usually a while after season ends. There has been lot of speculation regarding Fabregas' future and that can only increase if Arsenal again fail to win a trophy.

IF he jumps ship at end of season before votes are taken.....how likely do you think the majority of supporters will vote him as player of year?

I think it's a slim chance as a lot of football supporters are very fickle. I'm a Liverpool man, wouldn't consider myself fickle, but I do remember back in 2005(after CL win) when Gerrard was linked to chelsea when some f**kwit burned a Gerrard shirt outside Anfield. Considering Gerrard was(still is) our club captain, scored vital goals through CL campaign(Olympiakos & 1st goal in final) and lifted the trophy......yet we had fans who instantly turned on him.

So basically, if he stays fit and doesn't move then yeah he's in with good chance but.....who knows :P

Pienaar at 9/4 for Everton, joint fav with saha... Can't see any other player challenging him as they have all been injured all season. I'd lump on Pienaar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭Raoul

What about Kevin Nolan at 6/5 to be Newcastle's player of the year. He is their top goalscorer so far and has been by far their best player.

Really like that bet glanman, pienaar's been in superb form for everton this year and as you say all his nearest challengers have been injured

I know it is shocking odds but it has to be totally easy money. There is not a hope Arsenal will sell him, he is rumoured to be going to Burnley, but on loan:

Jack Wilshire's Club After January Transfer Window (Wed Jan 13th - 22:00)

(Notes: Loan deals do not count)

1/20 Arsenal (By End of January Transfer Window)

    Min: 0.05 Max:
    2000

5% return for 2 weeks deposit...

Yep after thinking about it, the bet isn't as good as I thought, I still think he will win it but there are too many risks involved to back it big... think i got carried away when i saw the bet..

Appreciate the feedback lads, I think Pienaar is a great shot too, pity PP only accept single bets on these markets as a treble on Pienaar, Nolan, Fabregas etc would be a great bet..

personally i think a great investment for between now and summer is rochdale to win league 2 @ 6/4 in my book they should be around 4/5 or 4/6;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,859 ✭✭✭glanman

not a bad bet, but I know nothing about league 2, anyone else think this is worth a punt? looking at them briefly they are free scoring and in great form. Gonna consider it, but would want to get on it before tomoro. I presume they are being helped by the hype around notts county and thus not as short as they should be...

Agree with that. They've got +30 goal difference and are 5 points clear of Bournemouth who, I think, will be the only real challengers for the title bar an amazing run from a lower team.

Thats a very dangerous thing to ask on here!

People on this forum bet on the obscure football leagues from all over the world and base their 'knowledge' on looking at a league table. Do you own research, make your own call, that way nobody else to blame if it goes wrong

I'm a bit of a rochdale fan over last 10 years. I would never ever recommend anyone bet on them ever. Other than this season they are always so unpredictable. They fall away at the end of every single season also. I still woudn't be confident on them this season.

A nice little stat on them is that they have been in the same division for longer than any other club in England.:p
