    Howdy,

Recently took up mountain biking, so i am looking for a good all round jacket (windproof/waterproof), preferably in black with reflective material on it. For the not so warm days! I'll probably stick with a hoody on nice days! I don't mind paying for a good one, like a climacool or something, i hate sweating too easy from wearing the wrong type of material. Also would it be wise to get undergarments too- climacool stuff, if so would the adidas/nike running stuff do the job? On good days i will probably cycle up the mountains from the north of the city so it will be cycling day trips involved. Any suggestions welcome, preferably from an online store that accepts laser or from a shop in Dublin.

And some gloves too, wind/water proof but not too chunky :)

    cheers

    CycleSuperStore have some reasonable stuff.

I bought this Bicycle Line Stark jacket from them last year, except black with a white stripe across it. Used it all winter.

If you want something cheap you could have my one off me for not very much (medium size). I've been looking for an excuse to change it. :pac:

cheers Lumen but im usually a large, might even consider an extra large, do you wear climacool stuff underneath that or just an ordinary t shirt? cheers

TBH with a decent winter jacket it doesn't much matter what you wear underneath it. Whatever is comfortable against the skin, close fitting, and cheap.

I usually use a long sleeved merino wool thing I got last Christmas, or if that's in the wash whatever else is within reach.

This jacket is fantastic, windproof, waterproof and loads of pockets. But over 5 degrees, you'll find it very warm. Over ten degrees, it'll be unbearable.

Can't beat it as a rainjacket though. Wore it in the heavy sleet yesterday and I was still toasty and dry underneath.

I have the one up from that, the dhb Wickham eVent one. Waterproof and probably the most breathable I've had. Great jacket. Twice the price though.

Slightly off topic, but do any of you use waterproof tights ? I just use dhb Merstons which are nice and warm, but they don't keep rain out. I see Endura have some available, has anyone tried them ? They get good reviews, but are fairly expensive ! The focal point (Crotch) got pretty cold and soggy the other evening in the sleet. Just as well I wasn't on a long spin.

that's a bit odd was thinking bout this yesterday while looking at these. went for merston in the end. couldn't really justify the extra cost...

I have a recently acquired pair of these. I wore them on Tuesday evening struggling into the howling gale and lashing rain. Fully dry inside them when I got home. Socks and shoes were sodden...

Any Gore clothing from Wiggle is fantastic, expensive but well worth the money!
