    Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of doing the 42 day trip with these guys except I can't find anything online about them from people who've used them. Anyone here used them?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

ive used them. one of the main advantages is they bring a chef along so you have less cooking to do in the evenings. i didn't have any problems with them but i'm not the fussiest. any specific questions?

also they have a lot of trucks on the road, so it can be quite easy to jump off one truck and spend more time in a specific place and just wait for the next truck a few days later. this can also help if you find you dislike the other travellers in your group!

Have you considered travelling Africa independantly ? It is a hell of a lot cheaper and much more rewarding.

more rewarding probably, but way more time consuming and definitely not always cheaper. try getting to remote locations in namibia on your own without a car. at best your going to get the bus to windhoek and join an organised tour there.

anyway, just one specific example, i know it goes both ways. the overlanding has a lot of pros and cons, its not necessarily something i'd do again but if you want to get a good look at africa in a limited time period it does what it says on the tin

Yeah we considered doing it ourselves but the both of us are first time travellers so we'd be more comfortable with a tour to start with on our year out.

    Just a few specific questions:

    - Whats the age group like? I know it varies from bus to bus but is ther a general age group people are. I'm guessing mid to late twenties? We're 23.

    - Has anyone done the 42 day trip? Is it really tough staying in a tent for that long?!

    - This one's gonna make me look thick...In this link there is 2 prices. I'm not sure which price the trip would cost or is it both of them combined? http://www.africatravelco.com/details.php?tripid=000031

    Thanks again for the feedback

    - Has anyone done the 42 day trip? Is it really tough staying in a tent for that long?! i did 56 days, depends on your disposition to camping. i often turned to alcohol to assist. there are plenty of opportunites along the way to pay about 5 dollars for a room/dorm in the campsites

    Thanks again for the feedback

on another note, if you only have 42 days and you have to pick i'd chose going to uganda/gorrillas rather than bots/namibia/south africa. just my experience though
