hi there, looking for advice for phone to learn how to txt. This is for my Grand Dad. He can manage a standard nokia fine, but finds the buttons too small and difficult to see. I am looking for a phone with larger keys and a very simple menu system, any recommendations?

    I'd recommend a phone with a QWERTY keyboard e.g. Nokia E71.

The only phone my 87 year old grandmother's ever managed to send texts on is an iPhone! She also managed to use my HTC Hero without any bother.

In general, anything with fiddly buttons / non-intutive menus tends to just cause older people to go 'screw this, I'll just ring them'

You have to remember that quite a lot of phones operating systems are bloody horrible to use, you just get used to them after a while and learn their quirks.

Sony Ericsson phones also rate very highly in terms of ease-of-use. Their interface is pretty straight forward, even compared to most Nokias.

Ok definately not an E71: small buttons, not easy to use in my opinion. Same would go for touch screens. I would go for something like the LG GB 220 at the moment: any flip phone will have bigger buttons for someone thats older thats a definate plus. Otherwise if he would prefer Nokia maybe a Nokia 6303 because the buttons are spaced out and not joined together and the writing gets quite big. Otherwise the Emporia Life Plus on 02 has huge buttons but out of stock at the moment!!!!!

What model number are you saying the keys are to small?

Would the 3120 classic be to small?

As already said, the emporia life, it might be bigger than you want?

What good is a mobile if you need to carry around a keyboard too!?

Something like one of these I guess
