Say hypothetically you have two identical people, person A and person B

Person A is 22 years old, has never smoked, doesn't drink alcohol, plays sport and has a BP of 120/80

Person B also 22 years old has smoked for 8 years, drinks 30 units of alcohol a week and exercises little, eats fast food 3-5 times per week and exercises little except some walking.

Which of the 3 BP would you expect for person B?

    85/130

    90/140

    100/160

The question should be what is person B's expected blood pressure after 20 years of incoporating major risk factors for hypertension into his lifestyle.

It depends on a lot of factors including exercise and genetics. The only way to be certain is to have it measured a few times to get an average for the person.

I hope that you have taken those figures down incorrectly. It should hopefully be high number over lower number.:)

A normal blood pressure reading does not rule out serious illhealth that may be the result of an unhealthy lifestyle. It's only one factor out of many that are indicative of general health. Your hypothetical person could have a perfect blood pressure reading and still have many serious conditions.
