O2 contract question

    I got an iPhone on an 18 month contract (contract question so I've not posted in Apple Media Devices). It's about to run out and I'd like some opinions. I'm thinking of going pay-as-you-go as I'm currently paying €55 a month including insurance.

    Some questions if anyone can help;

    Does O2 offer a reduced monthly rate at the end of a contract or does it keep going?

    What would people recommend – to go with another vendor (can this be done with an iPhone).

    I use the G3 capabilities but very lightly, how are these best covered with PAYG?

    Thanks

    Once the contract is up, that's it. If you don't renew you won't receive any more service from them, you'll have to port your number or switch to PAYG.

    O2 will not unlock the iPhone for you, at least not yet. You can unlock it yourself though. It's an easy enough process but it does mean that you won't be able to update your phone when the updates are released; you'll have to wait for the hacks to be updated. There's also no guarantee that future software updates will be hacked either. Plenty of people have done it though.

    Not sure what you mean here. I'm presuming you mean using the internet on your phone. On PAYG, most operators use a 99c for 50MB a day system.

    Actually you will continue to receive service until such time as you make your intentions about what you want to do clear to us whether it be porting out or moving to prepay.
