Band members (Drummer) wanted for homeless shelter!

For the past year I have been playing music voluntarily in a shelter for homeless alcoholics on James’s Street called Sundial House. I go in there once a week and play the residents cover versions of old hits, mainly from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. I have to say it is great fun and very rewarding!

Now what I would like to do is put a small band together to add to what I already do. I’m not expecting a weekly commitment from people (although that would be amazing) but if we could come to an arrangement whereby we had a band session at once a month at Sundial House that would be great.

Initially what I am looking for is a basic set up of:
    • A drummer (we’d have to play acoustic so no need for full kit, just basic set up with brushes)
    • Bassist
    • Lead Guitarist

However any instrumentalists are welcome to join, just drop me a line and we can try and figure something out.

The list of songs grows every week as residents make new requests but the artists I am currently covering are as follows: The Beatles, Bill Withers, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Boney M, Christie Moore, The Commodores, The Dubliners, The Eagles, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, John Lennon, Johnny Cash, Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka, Paul McCartney, The Pogues, Rod Stewart, Roy Orbison… the list goes on.

If you are interested in getting involved with this or you know someone who might be, please drop me a private message.

    Thanks, Ed.

nice to hear of some folks doing the good deeds.

Great idea Ed, I'd love to join, but you seem to be sorted guitar-wise, so I don't think I'll be much help there! Anyway, if I can help pm me (nb: I don't play lead).

    Best of luck!

I assume this is James Street in Dublin rather than James Street in Westport?

let me know if you need a lead guitarist to play, I live near city centre and wouldnt mind doing the gigs with ya for a good cause. Provided they dont interfere with my main bands gig nights.

Hi, I'm an accoustic bassist and live close to James, give me a shout.

Thanks for replying! I've luckily managed to recruit a really good bass player and he's bringing a long a Lead Guitarist provisionally so we'll see how that works out. If there are any good drummers out there, I'd love to hear from you! Thanks, Ed.

Cheers I have a drummer on standby. But I will get in touch if needs be. Our main requirement at the moment is a lead guitarist!

I'm still looking for musicians for this if anyone is interested.

I've a drummer on standby and I'm hopefully meeting with a bass player this week so we'll see how that goes.

I've a guitarist who has expressed an interest but nothing is solid with any of the above..

So, if you really would like to have some fun playing old classic songs while doing a good deed, please drop me a pm!

    Thanks,
    Ed
