Organising Squeezebox library

Hi I have a squeeze box duet, the only problem with it really is that Ive a large music collection and it's a big hassle to scroll through it looking for things.

I much rather it went letter -> artist -> album -> song

Instead of the than the way it is atm where you have to scroll past all the artists beginning with "A" to get to the ones beginning with "B" etc

I set up a playlist in itunes organised by each letter thinking i could just scroll to the the letter of the artist i want, but instead each song by those artists is listed which isn't any handier.

Is there any other way of organising the library?

Not sure how to do this in squeezecenter, but for mine (I use Twonky) I selected a folder display option called "advanced ipod like" instead of "ipod like" which built extra indexes for artist and album under abc, def, ghi etc.

Basically twonky allows you to point at your source folder and create a tree structure how to index the files. Perhaps sc can do something similar? At least you know of a possibility of where to look.

Using Slim Server load into the web control , select albums.
On the bottom left there is a view tab and it will arrange " artist -> album -> song".
If its your remote install "lazy search" from your Slimserver . Its in : settings> plugins>recommended third party>

(Edit: there is also artist, year, album or artist, album in the advanced portion of the remote)

i added the custom browse plugin

i tried to add this custom menu
Artists by letter Menu that browses artists but it has an extra level where you have to select the first letter of the artist before you can browse artists for the selected letter

but i keep getting this error:
    No custom dir configured

but i can't find any option to configure a custom directory?
