So... My brother and OH [Shawshank and Red ] decided it would be hilarious to get arrested for drunk an disorderly... A brown envelope has arrived at the house and none of us will be around to open it.

Apparently the scenario happened back in November and this is the first I've heard about it so still trying to get the nitty gritty details which seem to be strangely colourful at the moment...

Anyone have an idea what its going to say? Or been in a similar predicament?

I assume someone told told you that the envelope arrived. I would ask this person to either open it and tell you the contents or else post it to an address where you can get it. Do not ignore it.

A brown envelope in connection with a public order incident will contain a summons or summonses to go to court, to be held in a certain place on a certain day where the person the summons is addressed to will be charged with an offence or offences.
    Next stage, get a solicitor.

I thought a summons had to be signed for by the accused..no?

No. It can be left with a family member or at your last know address, amongst other options.

    Thank you for your replies!
Turned out to be a meeting with the Gardai that arrested them that night, to basically give them a good scaring and caution them for the offence.

    Thanks again!
