even though JT has consistantly disappointed me in his films in the last say 10 years i'll hold out hope for this. Taken was one of the most suprisingly enjoyable films in years. The trailer doesn't inspire me like the taken one did though.

So has anybody seen this yet?
I caught it over the weekend and was delighted with it.

Brilliant balls to the wall action movie, with a great sense of humour and even half decent 'serious' moments/love story intertwined.

The plot was decent enough and didn't have any major quarrels with the script.
Thought Travolta delivered his role brilliantly and Myers was also decent as the weedy side kick.
The action was top notch and kept a great consistent flow throughout the movie...unlike say, Taken, which left large gaps between the violent scenes.

Film seems to be getting slated but I thought it was brilliant and worth a look by anyone interested in a good action movie.

I didn't think it was great.

I love me an action movie, and this has all the ingredients - shootouts, fights, car chases, missile launchers. But overall I thought it was fairly boring. Rhys Meyers is as weasely and annoying as ever.

Its not really compareable to Taken. Apart from being a much worse movie, its just a different style, less gritty and more tongue-in-cheek. I'd say its more like a cross between Rush Hour and Shoot 'Em Up.

    Wow....that sounds amazing.

I like that the movie was tongue in cheek, kinda like it wasn't taking itself too seriously.
A huge flaw of Taken was that it was taking itself seriously...so all that ****ty acting and dialogue just made me cringe.

With this movie though, I knew exactly what I was getting...I mean, come on...an action movie staring JT and JRM set in Paris, and Luc Besson is involved!

Like yourself senordingdong I saw it over the weekend and really enjoyed it. The cinema was pretty much deserted but in fairness there was some rugby match on at the same time :p. That aside however, everyone in there seemed to really enjoy it.

Travolta was the fantastic in it :D

Honestly one of the worst movies ever to get a release. Taken was an enjoyable watch but this was gack.

Have to agree with you....pure tripe! I'd be a fan of JT, but this movie was muck from start to finish.

Have to ask though...if you guys thought this movie was awful....what were you expecting?

The phrase 'Produced, and story by Luc Besson' was enough to put me off.
Besson is a bit of a French Michael Bay who churns out identi-kit films with the same plot constructed solely to wrap around a cool idea he once had for a car chase. He makes films stricty for watching with a post pub kebab.

    Reading that hurt my head.

From Paris With Love is a brain dead action film which delivers. It's easily digested Friday night filler which does exactly what it sets out to do, entertain. It's not big nor is it clever but it never had any intention of being.

    I loved it.
It's a must for any fan of old school Hong Kong action movies.
Pierre Morel is the French John Woo.

Only thing I didn't like was the Pulp Fiction reference.

Ehhh I don't think the director of Taken with same.
I thought that it had some really bad writing and could have quite possibly ruined Liam Neeson's career.
I might give it another look (since it's been a while since I saw it) but I'm fairly sure that it is terrible.

Yeah the Pulp Fiction reference was odd, but it didn't grind for me.

I wonder was the title some sort of reference to Bond.

    You think!:p

Had been pretty much ignoring this film, but now that I know its by the same director as Taken, I might just have to have a look!
