G36 mag pouch

    hello everyone,
this is my first thread, so please be gentle with me :)

well anyways, i just bought the sweetest molle vest online and it has come after a long wait of about 13 days, it is my dream come true as i have finaly have spare money to buy the vest i have longed for...
but(unfortunatly) the triple mag pouch which came with the vest is obviously designed for a m4 mag. I am a g36c user so my mag is a very tight fit and is not practical to take a mag out for a in-game situation.

    my Question is:
if your a g36 user with a molle vest, what pouches do you use?
what pouch would you recommend that you have tried?
will it fit that pouch nicely?
will a mag pouch that is designed to carry two m4 mags in the same section be too big for a g36c mag in our opinion? as i dont want the mag to be all loose and wobbly in the pouch.
basicly im looking for a pouch that will fit my g36 mags as well as a m4 pouch would fit a m4 mag.

if your gonna gimme any links please gimme safe and tested links, and cheap if possible(although im willing to check out anything at any price)

and if anyone is selling somthing that suits my needs of a king.(OD please)

    thank you for your time
    Vinny aka Spooky / chink
    xXx

Triple AK/Stanag mag pouches will hold 2 G36 mags.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,011 ✭✭✭sliabh

I use double AK pouches with hold 2 clipped together G36 mags nicely. I made the mistake of looking for them in multicam though! :-)

It took me a while to find a supplier, and I had to pay a bit extra for them. I used RedWolf, but I also came across a US crowd Tactical Tailor. Neither was cheap though.

hmmm, i'v actualy thought about that and have taken a look online about ak pouches.
i'v never come across a ak pouch that holds 3 mags in one pocket.
and the question for me about those pouches were:
    Are they too deep?
can you guys post pictures of your g36 mags in your ak pouches and post them on here for me to see? it would help me out so much. i'd like to see how snug and how deep they fit into the pouch
    thank you!
    xXx

i just looked up that triple stanag mag poouch you were talking about Extremataz,
are the 3 mags fitted into the pouch tight? coz two g36 mags are still abit wider than 3 stanag mags =s

These are the ones I went for:
    http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=25105

I don't have a shot showing the mags in the pouch, but this is one of me in Hellfire 2 weeks ago and will give you an idea of their relative size.
    g36.jpg
The mags might look a little small but I find they fit very well. I put mine in inverted and there is about 10-15mm sticking out at the top of the pouch. With the good lip on the G36 mags they are easy to pull out then when you need them. There is enough room in the pouch as well that they pull out without being tight or snagging.

Tripple m4 pouches are excepent... as others have said. When I used a g36, i either had them in singles, or on a molle vest, I used 2 100 round SAW pouches. Each held 4 mags. It was compact and efficient I found.

@sliabh: your way seems the best so far i must say, although i do not like the fact it must be clipped together =s. to be honest i might end up with your idea, it seems the best. thank you

@firekitten: what do you mean a single? cause g36 mags dont fit into much m4 pouches nice. do you have a photo of your set up with the SAW pouch? i'd love to see that man.

does anyone have a double stanag mag pouch? if my calculations are right, then a single g36 mag would fit in like a charm.

Depending on how you play that might or might not be a problem. I only ever use mid caps so I appreciate having the second clipped for fast mag changes. But if does prevent you from folding the stock when the spare is on the right side (if you know what I mean).

    *cough* wo-man *cough*

An alternative approach is the get the battleaxe adaptor and to use stanags. That might be a option for your as well.

LOL my deepest apologies firekitten, i did not know =)

see i like the whole neat look so thats why im looking for like kinda of a "one pouch one mag" kinda set up =s (im awkward, im sorry)
love to take a look at a double stanag mag pouch

and the battleaxe adapter thing your talking about was originaly one of my options i was gonna lash out with my original questions but i thought i'd find out all the info on the pouches first.
see the thing with the adaopter is... will my gun still look professional? i realy cant decide till i see a g36 with the adopter in person. *cry*

The battleaxe adapter looks quite well in place from my experience - I've been using one for a few months now.

Takes a bit of getting used to though as it's a lot tighter than the standard magwell so there's a knack to getting the mag to slot straight in.

However, and this may just be my AEG, I have found that my '36 misfeeds a lot with the adapter - I've the TM G36C for the record.

Having said that though, it also misfeeds a little from my G36 hi-caps, but not at all from the G36 low or midcaps. So it could be a combination of the Battleaxe magwell and wear on the mechbox (which has cycles well in excess of 150,000 rounds at this point).

Unfortunately no photos of the setup... don't have a g36 anymore to use with it. Essentially, its a box magazing pouch for the SAW 100 round mags. its about 10€ on ebay, and if you get the usgi ones like i did, unbreakable.

As for single mag single pouch, Normal Double m4 mag pouches will fit your bill perfectly. check out www.flecktarn.co.uk All thier molle pouches show g36, ar15 and other mags in them so you can get an idea of what you'd get :)

And no sweat, everyone does it ;)

its a interesting set up i must say with the SAW pouch for a g36 mag holder haha,
i'd like to see that, although i am more interested in "one pouch one mag" setup.

im deffinatly gonna take a look at the double m4 mag pouch, it seems like it would take a g36 mag very snug. thank you

and that website is excellent, although its abit low on stock on everything haha! is it a trusty site to buy off? and im guessing all the prices are all in sterling yeah? thank you again
    xXx

    Low in stock?

LOL no... the quantity box is how many you want to order... they have LOTS in stock. Yes, its stirling, and highly reputable site, I use them all the time.

Thier gear, 'bulle' is actually really really tough stuff.... brilliant kit.

As for the saw pouch... *shrugs* its practical, it takes up less space, and it meant i didnt have to buy another set of pouches. I'm economical that way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 711 ✭✭✭Spooky-Vinny

lol no no, i meant the pouches i was actualy interested in are "out of stock" lol
i will take your word for it and i may try it... if there was any stock -.-"

what compelled you to even use a saw pouch as a multi mag holder? =s
    xXx

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

I had one lying around.... I had to carry m4 mags on my gear with minium fuss... i realised that a saw pouch on the off hand side of my blast belt held 6 m4 mags, and i was like... oh, this works... i'll use that. As it too up considerably less space than 3 double m4 pouches. I'm Jewish... spending money is abhorant to me :P So if i dont have to, i wont. In all seriousness. It was a trial and error thing, it worked, so I used it. It holds 4 g36, 12 mp5 mags, and 3 ak... so its fairly versatile.

Hell for my mp5 basic setup, i have blast belt, that on one side, pistol and spare mags on the other, 12 mags in it, job done :D its light and efficient. If it ain broke, dont fix it imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 711 ✭✭✭Spooky-Vinny

nicely put haha, unfortunatly i dont have anything spare lieing around so i gotta buy all mine. glad you found the set up for you, im still building mine as i am finaly making enough money to do everything i want and still save for airsoft stuff =)

When you've been playing as long as me... you end up with enough random bits of kit to build three or four different loadouts in the 'gear wardrobe' lol.

    Goodluck on the setup

oh right i get the picture now haha
firekitten... airsoft is my addiction, its my cocaine, its my herione!
before i knew of airsoft i was the biggest gun and war junky ever, i usto just spend ours googling and wikipediaing guns, war, etc and reading all about them, my parents even gave out to me as i studied guns instead of for school which was fairly useless like.
now that i'v found aisoft i feel as if i can actualy join the realism withouth the actual realism. now i spend every spare minute of my life, still addicted to war and guns, but im keeping fit and healthy as im running around a field once a week =)
sorry if im rambling on, im not even sure what my point is anymore, im tired. i think what i was getting at is that yes.. you will never peal me away from airsoft! and yes.. it does ****in rock to the max!!!

thank you very much for the photos, love the way your scattered empty shells around it lol, the m4 mag looks well in the g36 i havto say, but personaly i think it looks too thin from the front veiw, otherwise i think its nice.
with the battleaxe does it mean the stanag mag is button released instead of clip released?

yeah, the mag release is on the side, but it's on the left side rather than the right. The clip does nothing.

i'd say thats real awkward to take the clip out then would it? coz you'd be using your thumb

Its not hard at all, AR15 users the world over manage just fine, airsoft or real steel :P and its not your thumb, its trigger finger or the trigger finger on the off hand that releases the button. :)

i supose it would be handy for the left handed players.
but i duno, i just imagen it being awkward for me if the mag release was on that side. i guess i'l just havto ask my left handed friend with a m16 lol

Actually its fine for lefties or righties.... it depends how you hold it, how you drill with the weapon, but its no hinderance whatsoever imo.

Not on this arrangement it's not - or at least, not for right handed players. The armailte release is on the right hand side of the receiver, and easily reached by the operators trigger finger.

However, with the adapter it's on the opposite side. Hence, Spooky is right, it does require that you use the thumb of your left hand as you grip the mag to remove it, and yes, this is awkward if you're used to dropping the mag out with one hand and reloading with the other (as you may well be if you've used an armalite style device previously).

This isn't such a big deal for '36 users as this is how you operate the standard G36 release in any case (perhaps this is the reason for it), unless you've got long enough fingers on your right hand and can depress the release with your trigger finger (I can do it but it's not easy so I generally don't), in any case the adapter renders this latter technique equally redundant.

edit: so to summarise - the adapter alters both conventional mag release techniques and could be considered more awkward than either alternative. (I for one do think that it's more awkward... although lefties will love it)

thats fair enough, i have yet to take a mag out of a m4 left handed lol.

yeah as soon as i realised that i thought it would be awkward, just cant imagen getting those fingures around the clip to pull down while the thumb has to be jammed at that button
but yeah, i thought it be heavan for the leftys
