MyMemory have them at £13.95 (about €15.50)here

I bought a different remote from there before for the PS3 so won't be getting this, I know there's a thread about the remote somewhere but I couldn't find it, feel free to merge/delete :)

Why would I need a remote rather than using the wireless pad?

Any extra features or is it just cosmetic?

and why have two wireless devices for your PS3 when there's double the chance one of them could go missing?

No reason/added functionality, but if you have a wife/girlfriend, I guess I better not be sexist, husband/boyfriend, that isn't tech savy and doesn't like using something that doesn't have the correct label on it (try explaining to my wife to press select, then up then x to get to the main menu and have her remember and your a better man that I :)) then it's a must have

find it better using remote than controller.

charge in my controllers now last a lot more because i'm not using them when i'm watching media on my ps3 which i use it for most.

The remote is really good, it's always on and uses little or no power, so it saves battery you turning your controller on. Good price for it....

I would be lost without the remote, rather than having to remember the functions on the controller. It is also useful for PlayTV.

Ok - so its double the price - but Gamestop in blanch have the following boxset for 30 Euros.

    PS3 Official DVD Remote
HDMI Cable (Official PS3 one) 2.5 meters
    Casino Royal Blueray disc

Good value maybe if you need the HDMI cable

    “Roll it back”

Its not great value. The 'Official' PS3 HDMI cable is just a regular one with plastic lettering that says PS3, Cheaper one can be bought that give the same quality display.
Casino Royal on blu ray is £10 in most shops aswell like Zavvi.

I tried to explain how to use the ps2 to play dvds years ago. It took me a half hour to explain and every time she went to watch a dvd she'd call me asking me something about it. Eventually I started unplugging the video cable when I wasn't using it and told her it stopped playing dvds.

    Haha, legend!
The official remote is a lovely bit of kit, and seems to have extremely low power consumption, i've had mine for a few years now and am still using the original batteries.
Essential bit of kit if you use your ps3 for playing media imo. Handy for browsing the psn store too...
