    Hi all

We are getting married in St Margherita in Italy this April. After the week of the wedding we have decided to stay in Italy and hit some of the hotspots. We will have a car, but im not sure if we should ditch this as the drive to St Margherita from Milan is scary enough...I can only imagine the rest of the country!! Anyway, the only definite place we want to see is Rome. Any honeymoon recs for places/cities/hotels etc? Want to get my research done asap as time is ticking!!

    Thanks in advance :D

Stay a bit in the Cinque Terre, keep the car and go to see Lucca, San Giminiano, Siena maybe, or head to Umbria which is a great region, Perugia and then drive to Rome and leave the car there (cos if you dont like driving from Milan to Cinque Terre, so deffo wont like Rome). Stay in Rome minimum 3 days to see the place a bit. The longer time you have there, the better.

    Or

You could ditch the car in Cinque Terre, go straight to Rome by Train, stay in Rome, and try to take a day trip to see Naples and Pompeii.

    Hi MrsBerries.

We honeymooned in Italy last September / October.

    LOVED IT!!!!!!! :D

We started off in Sciliy = Excellent. Didn't come accross any of the bad things preople usually say about it, people being rude etc etc.

Then went to the Aoelian Island. = Fantastic. Lipari is great, you can get boat trips between weach island.

Then went up to Serrento and stayed in Praiano (please excuse all my bad spellings :o) = Amazing.

I rented a car in Serrento, its pretty mental driving in Italy, mainly in the South, up north is a bit more mellow :), but you have to call a lot of drivers bluffs when you're at junctions. They go mad went you cut them off bit don't let it put you off.

Then we got the train to Florence and stayed in a little villa = brilliant.
We rented another car and drove up to Luccia = beautiful!!! and the surrounding areas... Assisi is nice but just "nice", beautiful but theres a religious vibe that a bit to "nice".

It was my first time in Italy AND I LOVED IT!!!!

The people, the food, the food, the food, the scenery, the food. The whole place is an assault on the senses.. I'll definiatley be back!!!!

Hope you have a wonderful time.
