    Hi

I'm interested in improving my Irish language and would like to join an Irish speaking group in the Cork area. It would be great if music and poetry played a part in such a group.

    With Thanks

May be worth calling Gaelchultúr if you don't hear of any conversation groups going- they may have information. They'll certainly have classes anyway but may know about conversation groups if you call them.

Damn! I was full of ideas but you're all the way down in Cork.
    Sorry about that.

First place to go would be Club Chunradh(apologies for spelling) na Gaeilge on Harcourt St. It's down in a basement around 30 metres from the Stephen's Green Hotel on the corner. They have classes on Tuesdays and the students all go for a few drinks afterwards so it's a good place to practice. They have sessions on other nights and most people are happy to speak to strangers.

There was also a club called Sult on every other Thursday but I'm not sure if it's still on or if it's the place to practice, considering the noise.

Another option would be to join an Irish-language drama group. Aistroiri Bulfin put on 2 or 3 shows a year. They always need stage hands and actors. They will have a meeting sometime in the near-future and if you are interested in attending, email them at aisteoiribulfin@gmail.com and just say you'd be interested in helping out and want to be on the mailing list.

If I think of anything else, I'll bump the thread.
