Will Peace Walker Destroy or Save the PSP in 2010?

So just a general topic, the game is released in May in both Europe and the US, May 25th to be certain...of course some stores have already withdrawn support for the console and many have speculated that despite the release of PSPGo there is no hope for the PSP in the long term future.

What I'm wondering is if Metal Gear Solid; Peace Walker will save the PSP (in your opinion), will the game revive interest in the format or is it a waste of time on Konami's part to expect this game to be the formats saviour

A PSP exclusive game, without much in the way of competition (maybe Little Big Planet) the last few months, it looks to be on its own. What I don't personally understand is how PSP can fail with the host of PSX titles available for download....surely the format could become some kind of retro porter and find its home with hardcore gamers?

PSP despite what some people say is far from a failure. Sales are really good, just compared to the juggernaut of the DS they look insignificant. Peace Walker won't change a thing. It will sell well like the previos game Portable Ops. It probably won't shift more hardware though. The PSP might support PSX games but for die hard retro fans it's not the ideal solution. It's missing two buttons, the control layout is horrible. Some enthusiasts are put off by the fact that the games are not in the correct resolution. You also get a much better PS1 games player when you hack the machine since you aren't confined to what is available on the store. The last thing to remember is when has old software ever sold a games machine?

Peace walker, one analog stick. Won't be spending my €€€ on it.

Much as I love my PSP this won't sell systems. Cut down versions of PS3 games aren't the way to go. Gran Turismo didn't exactly set the world alight, and that's far more suited to portable play. The PSP needs a standout game that can't be played on anything else, which it just won't get.

Games like pixeljusk shooter and other PSN titles should be made exclusively for PSP if they want to get people buying them. The minis are too short and simple, a nice middleground would be good, with lots of games for under €10 on PSN. Make it a bit more like the Ipod App Store butfor good games instead of virtual pints.

Pixel Junk Shooter apparently wont be coming to PSP uses loads of the PS3 power for the physics engine ( I messaged Dylan Cuthbert on Twitter and asked him!)

Portable ops was ****e so I don't know, I like that they are going with the Syphon Filter control scheme but I don't know, I don't think it'll do anything for psp sales that Monster Hunter hasn't done already. Its the west that Sony needs to buy more devices and Portable Ops didn't sell great over these parts so I don't think this is going to do any different.

The PSP is a great system but the Mini's thing is a bit of a joke there all ****e.

I think the PSP has been saved a long time ago tbh.

The PW demo looks ouitstanding, I agree it is annoying making games for it for the sake of it when they could be on PS3 but it does have the Co Op element to actually make sense on the PSP.

Graphics are outstanding for a portable. Theres also Valkyria Chronicles 2 much later this year. That should suit the PSP down to the gound (even if I would pefer it on a PS3).
