12 month career break?

    Hi boards.ie!

    I am thinking of taking a 12 month career break. I haven't discussed this with my employer yet, but I was hoping some of you who have done this before can tell me about your own experience of this, and if it turned out to be a good or bad idea?

    My job is (reasonably!) secure and one or two people in my office have taken a career break like this before.

    Are there any standard laws about career breaks or is it simply a case of talk to your employer about it and try to come to an agreement?
