    Hi,
Have been looking at selling alternatives for my car. Just wondering would it be worth holding a raffle for my 09 car. Say something like €40-€50 a ticket.. Have heard of people doing it with trucks before. Whats everyones opinion on this?? Would people be interested in it?

    Thanks

You'd have to get a permit to hold the raffle to start with and I'm sure there's other legal issues and costs to look into, if you haven't done so already.

It would depend a lot on the car firstly.
    You would need a licence.
    Probably some tax implications.
You will need a definite draw date - what happens if the tickets don't sell?
I reckon it's got epic fail written all over it.

Bit messy really, what happens if you don't sell enough tickets, that alone will make people wary of buying a ticket.

have heard of this being done for older cars, think it was a boy racer but he got plenty of interest and got above the price he was looking for.

Just remember, once you start to take money off people you have to go through with it or you will have some very angry people looking for their money back, this can cause problems if you dont sell as many tickets as you taught and decide you dont want to go ahead. so make sure there is definitely enough interest.

you could setup a blog or webpage or even a facebook site first, fairly easy to do and see what kind of feedback you get. if your serious about it id try and plug it on a national radio station or something if you ring around someone mad like gerry ryan would take your call.

I remember that someone in the UK did this with their house once. But they agreed only to sell as mnay tickets as it took to get the price they wanted,

What car is it you're selling?

I know there could be plenty stuff to go wrong and that there would be legal issues. Its just a thought at the mo as I have the car for sale for 1-2 months and not much interest and I need to sell to move country so time is whats the issue. Its a 09 mitsubishi lancer.. some here mightnt think its a car worth raffling but I think a lot of people could be interested in spending €50 with the potential of winning an 09 car

You could just try lowering your asking price?

€50 is a lot for a raffle ticket, I know that you have more chances of winning etc.

Yeah i wouldnt spend 50 on a raffle ticket unless it was a ferrari or porsche or something!

well its either more expensive with better odds or cheaper with longer odds... its only a last resort tho really.. i dont think it will be as easy as just having a raffle.. with regards to lowering the price its just bout a grand and half dearer than an 08 private sale ad i saw and its the exact same car

can you PM me what you'd take for it? don't know where you're advertising it.

Is that private sale there for long? A lot of people won't be able to finance a private buy too.

Have you approached a dealer about buying it from you? Not too many 09 cars about and they could be low on stock. Long shot I know...

thats a good point but I still dont think the dealers will do me any favours.. it would be coming up to 2 months that its for sale now
