    Hi guys,

Might be a stupid question but just wondering what program you use to write. At the moment I'm using MS Word btu I'm wondering if there's any other programs more suited to writing stories.

I use a pencil to write, then type it up in Word or OpenOffice Writer. Sometimes I might use notepad.

Of all the writing programs out there, the only one I've liked is yWriter, and it's free. Nothing too fancy, a good few features if you want them, let's you break work up into chapters, and keep a wordcount plus a words per day target easily.

I use a Psion. I know, incredibly retro, but it's brilliant. Small, light, good keyboard, endless battery life, instant on and off, and almost impossible to lose anything. I carry it in my pocket everywhere I go and can write at the drop of a hat. Also, you can't surf the net or answer e-mail, so you have to actually get on with writing.

But then you have to type everything out all over again.

lol, nope i keep it all in a journal or series of notebooks! i guess if i decide to get anything published i will type it all out but as it stands i like the pen and paper. i started a book and that is on the computer and on floppy disks and usb's, but i guess the more recent work is on paper. :)

Quite apart from the typing out stuff, does that not mean you have only one copy of anything you write?

pretty much yes. Although anything that I really like I have written twice. :)
