cleaning chain??

Right i havent cleaned my good bike since about september and im just after noticing that my chain is just caked in muck..any advice on cleaning it..i usually just use petrol and an old toothbrush...i've cleaned the muck off and it still seems really black..any tips appreciated..

A park tool chain cleaner will make it thoroughly shiney again. Unless it has rusted.

Check that it hasn't been stretched too much (ie worn). As if it is there is no point in even cleaning it. Use a chain checker to see.

If not, you can get one of those chain cleaner devices online for €10-€20 depending on what quality you want. You could also use just a paintbrush and strong degreaser like Jizer. Hope this helps!

+1 on this. Even if it has rusted it will get it perfectly clean.

Take the chain off and put in a jar of diesel or heating oil overnight
it will be like a new pin in the morning

white spirits always works for me, take it off and soak overnight!
