Anyone here remember this tv series that used to be on RTE during the 80s?

I do. I've an image in my head of a blonde young fella with biggish teeth playing Tom Sawyer..or was it Huck?

I have the box set. Tom's bowl haircut is classic.

Used to switch over to ITV and watch Magpie when this cam on - mainly because there were no cars or bikes in it!

My Dad didn't like us watching ITV as it had "adverts for toys that took batteries"....

If this was the intro, then yes. I want the boxset!

That theme tune was hard to beat! The yearning to run away from home like Huck is still with me decades later. Running away from a house with my name on the mortgage wouldn't quite have the same buzz though I have to admit.

So - where can we get this box set then?

I used to to love that show as a nipper,i'm sure it probably looks a bit dated now but it was great entertainment back in the day.

Watching the first few episodes, I'd forgotten how buff Huck was. Heh heh.

It took me a while to figure out where I had seen Detective Mike Leary from Da Vinci's Inquest before.

Great series indeed, I was about 10, when it was on the telly in Germany

I even named my first pair of budgies after them :)

The Tom Sawyer actor seems to have got out of the acting business, but the Huck Finn guy turns up all over the place (he was even the main villain in an X-Files once).

Really? I'm a huge fan of the X Files and didn't know that. Or do I put too much attention on Gillian Anderson? :D

Also Adam Worth on Sanctuary and Bolan on the rather excellent Hell On Wheels
