FAS Course

    Have started a full-time FAS course today. Just wondered if anyone else has done this, do they know roughly how long it takes them to pay you your allowance? Will I get it this Friday or will I have to go a week with no payment? Cheers.

    They changed it in the budget in December. I was at a course meeting today and they told us that Fas will pay you the same as what the Welfare is paying you a week. You will also get travel allowance.

    So if you get €190 from dole, you will get same from FAS.

    If you're not untiled to Welfare then you get €0 from FAS, but still can do the course.

    So basically if your in a couple like myself and a unemployed builder and cant get Welfare then Retraining with FAS is going to be pretty hard. Exspecailly if its a long course.

    Unfortunately you will have to do a back week :(
    So you wont be paid until next week.

    You'll be on a back week, so you'll have to wait a week to get your allowance. If that's a problem for you, you can talk to your local community welfare officer about some money to get you to next week.
