Finished my first build and shocked at the onboard graphics, I knew they were just to hold me off till I bought a gfx card.

So which card tops the lot of kompletts €50 an under range: HD 4650 1GB?

And how would the Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB compare?

    Thanks.

p.s: student + fees = broke (so keep it cheap)

That brings up another topic, where are good second hand component shops in dublin?

There seems to be a decent one in drumcondra, up the lane adjacent the football club on the tolka.

Can't you use the old card for five minutes while you save your pennies for something that won't need an upgrade for a good while?

Depends on what you're doing with the comp and the resolution of the monitor really... HD4650s have been seen for just over €30 but they get stretched a bit around 720p and aren't much use beyond that except for older games. Between HD and Full HD the HD4770 is your best bet if you can find one cheap still, but once you're hitting 1080p anything below a HD5750 is going to suck at current games... Of course if you're still gaming on a musty old CRT a HD4650 should do for five minutes ;)
