Excellent engine, 140bhp and very economical. Almost suspiciously cheap though at that price... Don't know anything about that dealer.

Edit : just checked list, almost 4k off honda.ie price, which would exclude delivery and dealer charges. Looks like a very good price.

looks like a very good price, and the CO2 based tax should mean it'll hold its value better than the older ones did

Might be a result of a sale that fell through where the person had paid a non refundable deposit? Ring them and ask them what's the "on the road" price and see if it's anymore.

I'd say it's registered as a demo to the garage

the honda could be the pre facelift model. not sure if that matters to the OP. i think theres been very few changes with facelifted models anyway!!

The Astra is obviously easier on the pocket and will be cheaper to run. It comes down to whether you actually get excited by either car.

yea the astra would be easier on the pocket, but would it be more fun driving the 1.8 vtec civic?,any more views on which would be the better car would be great thanks

I doubt either car will be amazing to drive.

How would that be? The car wasn't registered back then.

ok thanks everyone, has anyone on here bought a new 1.7 astra diesel, also there must be a few honda civic 1.8 vtec owners out there your feedback on both cars would be very grateful.

I test drove a 1.7 Astra and thought it was a dog very weak engine for that car. But each to their own test drive both and go from there. in fairness you are the one that has to live with it not us :)
