There has been 2 follow up programs that were filmed in 2008. BBC NI showed them in Dec. I wonder when RTE will be showing them.

There was something about the whole thing that didn't add up.
First he said he sold the farm to his brother in law. Later too in the second episode, when he couldn't get the visa, he listed all the things he had done, "no turning back" as he said - sold the cows, the machinery....last on his list was the farm, and he said it like a reluctant addition.

Also, what farmer would let their wife buy land.....come on she was working as a nurse (or something).
The whole investment cost $8.1Million.To me it looked like he kept the farm in Ireland and the whole thing was a joint venture with that large cheese factory. He probably put a lot of the capital up himself. Also in the States he got things up and running fairly fast......or am I just been too cynical.

his wife seemed like a very inteligent and clued in lady , dont see why she couldnt pick the site , besides , he himself had made a visit to the general area already when she bought the site , as for the whole investment costing 8 million dollars , that was around 5 million pounds sterling back in 2004 - 2005 , looked like he was a very big dairy farmer so he probabley had close to half of his own money and perhaps borrowed the rest , south dakota was experiencing a rapid increase in milk productiong and activeley seeking people to set up dairys , i would imagine he would have been quite able to source the remaining finance needed , looked like he had a very clear five year plan as they say

interesting programe , as someone already stated , would be good to see a follow up report on how they got on since

Thank you for watching "Wanted Farmers" interesting comments about the wife! know the girl and yes very capable of buying a bit of land (160 acres) to build a Dairy on! Also for those of you who know dairy farming the numbers are not as important as the management of the operation. There is a third program which was filmed one year after the dairy was up and running. Making the program was good fun and there are no plans for further episodes but feel free to visit the website!
Wishing everyone involved in Agriculture a prosperous year in 2010!;)

The EB-5 program is how they went, if you have $500,000 or over to spend it will get you and your immediate family an American visa.

    Part 2 is on now.

I wonder how they are doing now as dairy farmers in the US had a though time last year with milk prices half the cost of production as there is a surplus of milk there?

lay off the conspirocys , seeing that he is originally from this island , chances are one of his friends or relatives checks out this site and passed on the comments about the show to him , it is the world wide web afterall

on the weather section , ken ring had a thread dedicated to him , most of it negative i might add , what do you know , the man himself was contributing within a matter of weeks
