Ok so basically all my friends want to go on a p*** up and so do I but I also want to do other stuff! So when they suggested Playa del ingles I thought thats ok cos Gran Canaria has pretty good surf. Then I came on here and read the hundreds of bad reviews on the place.
So my question is, can we find a happy medium? CRAZY nightlife but things to do aswel (ie surfing especially!)? Or even just a place that isnt described as a kip infested with cockroaches and prostitutes...
Note our lack of money and my friends want for an exclusively drinking holiday.
    Thanks for any suggestions!!!

You can have an exclusive drinking holiday in your own town. Don't understand the need to travel to drink yourself into oblivion. I guess Santa Ponza would be you best bet. Good nightlife and Magaluf just down the road. personally if i was you id want to go on an inter railing trip. You would be surprised how cheap you can make that

Last time I was in Majorca, the surf was appalling...

OP, PdelI is a dump, I agree, but you don't have to stay there. Up the road you have Maspalomas. It's a quiet area but you can take a taxi for the price of a pint that will bring you to the heart of the action for your boozing.

Similarly, on the other side of PdelI (and closer to the airport) you have San Agustin and Bahia Feliz. Slightly more expensive to stay in, but there are surf spots on your doorstep there and again, cheap to get into the resort by taxi.

Corralejo in Fuerteventura has a good surf scene as well as plenty of bars. Not nearly as bad for gangs of students (none there last time I went) and there are all sorts of bars. I'm too old for clubs but there are some at the bottom of the main strip.

I know... if I had the choice I'd be inter railing or going on an exclusively surfing holiday! But I do want to go somewhere with all my friends and this is what they want. I'll look up Santa Ponsa. Thanks

was in playa del ingles in november, its actually quite nice, it has the most amazing beach i have seen anywhere, just huge, the sunset over the sand dunes in playa is just incredible

the nightlife in playa (like in the other big resort towns in the canaries) is so tacky though, i wouldn't go near the Maspalomas Plaza again if you paid me; the best surf in the canaries i would imagine is probably lanzarote, given how windy that place is :(

When i was in lanzarote there were no waves or even a slight breeze. maybe outa season the sufering is gud:confused:. That was august when i was there also the night life is pretty rubbish so def wouldnt reccomend it for a group of lads.
