    Hi,
Does anybody know can you return a sales item to River Island?
It says nothing on the receipt.

    Cheers!

    Hey,

you can return sale items to them for sure and get a full refund - same as full priced stock.

I brought back a pair of jeans that I bought before Christmas, they had gone down in price but I was refunded the origninal price ( had the receipt)

In my experience river island is the worst place to bring back something never mind look for a refund, twice a manager has had to come out and thoroughly check the item before giving the staff member the go ahead on an exchange. Although I love their clothes its so annoying

had an experience yesterday returning 3 items which I bought online - I wanted to change the items to a different size but same style and the shop insisted on paying the difference between the UK price and Galway store price. Absolutely ridiculous and seems to be in violation of the returns policy.

have emailed customer services and waiting for a reply (24 hours later)

    Thoughts ?

Not sure if I've picked this up right but, would you not just be exchanging the items instead of returning?

If returning items bought online, same thing happened me.. the boots were 90 sterling, in euros they were 120 but I was only refunded E104.50. The way I look at it though was, that post and packaging would have costed a fair amount because it was a big and heavy item.

Well some positive progress : I called customer services in the UK and they assured me that in the case of returning items for exchange (wrong size and shop had the correct size in stock) that I should not have been charged extra (difference between UK and Irish prices). they promised to send a gift certificate for the 'over-charge' amount over the next few days.

    Reasonable outcome.

I know this post is old, but I just want to clarify something. I worked in River Island for a number of years and the reason a manager is called when a customer wants a refund/exchange isn't because RI insist on management checking every item, it's because only certain members of staff get a code for the till which allows them access to refunds/exchanges. Therefore, if I wanted to do a refund, I needed a managers code to put it through the till. It's really just to avoid loss out of the till, not have loads and loads of people able to do whatever they want etc.

Yeah, I got a present for my birthday about a week ago. A 200€ leather jacket. The hood is broken already(unbelievable quality). So can I get a refund/credit note or not?

In your case, the goods are not of merchantable quality. This means that you are entitled to a refund OR replacement OR repair.
