Sickened I missed them before they started selling out everywhere, would love to see them in a small pub with a pint in my hand (glass, no plastic).

Screw oxegen, I'll catch them another time

Saw Marcus solo in support to Laura Marling in Whelans about 2 years ago, then Mumford and Sons in Doyles and again in the Academy 2 (upstairs). Then missed this time when it sold out to all the Johnny come latelys. Bummer.

Excuse my ignorance, but I hadn't heard of these guys until they were announced for Glastonbury... Will have to check them out later

Can anyone recommend a song or album that'll give a good idea of what they're all about?

They've only got one album, Sigh No More, so that should give you the best idea of what they're all about. "The Cave" is probably my favourite song of theirs.

I was fortunate enough to pick up tickets for the gig last night. Really incredible performance.

Funny, I bought tickets for this gig a couple of weeks after they went on sale. The tickets didn't sell out for a couple of weeks after that again. So I'm sure all of the 'true' fans would have snapped up tickets early on ;)

I just found this review of the gig on Cluas:

    http://www.cluas.com/indie-music/Gig_Reviews/tabid/96/EntryId/1352/Mumford-and-Sons-Live-in-The-Academy-Dublin.aspx

I wasn't there but it seems a tad bit harsh and moany to me. Having a main act on at 9.15pm is pretty standard and I don't think The Academy is a terribly bad venue.

I wasn't there but here's a few thoughts on that review:

The Academy's standard time for main bands to start is around 9, so 9.15 is nothing to complain about. How does the venue feel 'clunky'?

She also feels the need to quote whole choruses in her review. Why? There's no point in that other than serving as filler.

Their/They're - Elaine Peppard should learn the difference, she manages to mix them up terribly in this sentence: "I found their egos; they’re accents and their general style too annoying to watch live." Perhaps she should read back over her reviews once or twice before submitting them? Does Cluas have no editor at all?

Also - their style is too annoying to watch live? She objects to the band on the basis of what they're wearing and what their accents sound like?

An immature and badly written review.

    Worst. Review. Ever.

Sounds like she's never been to a gig before and didn't want to be at this one either.

Don't know what gig she was at because it sure as hell wasn't the one I saw. They were amazing, they interacted with the crowd just enough, played a few new songs and I'm pretty sure they only had two opening acts not three.
As for slagging off the Academy as venue, that's just ridiculous.
