My daughters laptop has been infected with that virus called ANTIVIRUS LIVE and cannot get rid of it.
I stops me from running or updating my avg8 antivirus software, also stops me doing a restore even in safe mode.
it has blocked all maint. functions and opens up porn sites as my home page.
I have tried reinstalling vista, and done all the other things i read about on this site but nothing works.
can i format the hard drive or something else, don't mind losing data or files.
    any help would be welcome

Try this guide I had something similar before, and took a bit of work to get rid of it, thankfully did not have to format the hard drive. Best of luck op!

I have done it,,used the guide but had to run pc in normal mode because a mobile broadband was the only one connected.
anyway it worked and now pc seems to be fine also installed avg so now have 2 antivirus programs running.

a very big thanks for that info,,i will share it with others if needed.
