    Hello,

I'm just a ghost browser, but since us TYs and JCs have to choose our subjects soon, I thought you wise 5th and 6th Years could help by writing a bit about your subjects?

I hope this hasnt been done before......don't hurt me :o

Indeed, just do a topic search for the subjects your interested in one at a time.

Its been a while since I did mine but I'll give it a shot.

    - English + Irish: Ugh I hated those subjects. Learning poems is not my thing.
    I hate languages in general.

    - Biology: A great wee subject. Nothing difficult about it even at higher level.
If you are only going to take up one science subject make sure its
this one. If you put a little bit of time into understanding the
subject it makes perfect sense. No rote learning involved.

    - Chemistry: I found this a bit more difficult than biology. Some of the
definitions and formulas are a bit tricky to remember. A great
accompaniment to biology as there is overlap between the two
    courses.

    - Music: Great subject if you are already playing an instrument. Up to 50%
of the marks can be achieved by playing a few songs. The other 50% requires learning a bit about music theory but nothing extraordinarily
    difficult.

Maths: Probably my favourite subject. I cant explain why I liked it, I just did.
A lot of people would class it as a difficult subject so that may be
something to be aware of. If you enjoy maths now at JC, then fire
away at HL for leaving cert.

Physics: Out of the three science subjects, this one requires the most
memorizing. Some of the formulas and definitions are an awful pain
to remember. You should probably have an idea by now from your JC
science whether you will enjoy it or not.

App. Maths: This was a close contender with Maths as my favourite subject.
A few problems with this subject include, your school may not
even have an applied maths class, there isn't one applied maths
textbook that covers the subject 100% in my opinion, you will
probably be classed as a nerd for doing it. :P

You have probably realised that the words "enjoy" and "favourite" have popped up a number of times in my reply. It will make things a helluva lot easier if you pick subjects you have an interest in.

    Aaron.
