Skype question on iphone and a few others.

Having great fun with the phone so far and was playing around with skype.

I was wondering can you have skype running in the background while opening another app or after hitting the home button or even when the phone auto locks? It'll be handy if you can as I know your able in some other phones.

Also can you prevent the phone accessing the net without wifi as my credit keeps going down while I'm surfing which I think I'm losing connection and the phone goes through o2.
I'll be going back to vodafone after my credit in o2 runs out so can I leave out some phone settings to prevent this?

Last one is I've just installed an app and it asked if I wanted to enable push and I said no, is that for news updates because I think again I'm paying for connecting for updates? (it's a Liverpool fan club app. Liverpool ftw )

It'll be handy if you can as I know.hi there if your phone is jailbroke then yes there is an app to do this I don't think there is one from the app store.Can you let your iPhone just use wifi with out your credit running down?yes go to setting general,network under cellular data delete the info in the bars then the phone will not be able to acces the Internet without wifi. Hope that helps!

If your phone is jailbroken which I think it is as you said about using vodafone, then "background" app will let you run more than 1 App at a time ( battery will suffer).
"SB Settings" is also an app which let's you access your settings quickly , will be useful for you turning data on and off , to make sure your only over wifi.

There was a lot of sbsettings in cydia so I just deleted the info

now I installed the background app but I don't know how to use it as I can't even see the app
I tried opening skype but there's no option or settings I can find to run it in the background
I can't remember the name of the app but I'm pretty sure it's the right one and that I installed it right
I know it's probably something simple thanks again guys!

There's another app in Cydia called "Proswitcher" that allows you to see which apps are open in the background by pulling up a cover-flow kind of view of all the screens representing each open application. Very useful !

Took me 3 restores to get backgrounder to work :mad:

First install there was no icon at all.
The other 2 times it installed with an icon but when you click on it nothing happens the screen just blinks.
In between the restores I tried proswitcher but that didn't install either.

After the 3rd restore it just worked don't ask me why
Saw proswitcher on youtube and it looks very cool indeed but right I'm just happy in getting backgrounder running perfectly!

Strange apple doesn't have an app like this as statndard.
