Hey, I'm thinking of selling my bike and wondering what its worth...opinions or interest welcome!!

    Lapierre Stech500 56cm frame (white)
    Alu7005 Frame (triple butted)
    Easton Carbon EC70 fork
    Ritchey Logic stem/ seatpost/ handlebars
    Shimano 105 front derailleur/ sprocket
Shimano Ultegra shifters and rear derailleur
    (Triple chainset)
    Mavic Aksium wheels
    Look pedals
    San Marco Ponza saddle
Weight: 8.9kg (from spec online- not sure frame size)

Bike is literally in showroom condition, very little mileage, no wear, kept indoors

It hasn't lost anything until you sell it. :)

In my opinion (having sold a few bikes this year) you'll always have trouble shifting an aluminium framed bike near to €1k, because (a) some smartarse will always mention Planet-X, and (b) the cycle to work scheme.

That said, the new 2010 Audacio 500 (presumably an evolution of the S-Tech 500) seems to have 105 in the UK (for £1200) and Tiagra in Ireland (€1350, CSS). If someone doesn't mind an alloy frame, doesn't want a Planet-X and can't avail of the CTW scheme, then you might get a good price by offering them a nearly-new version at substantial discount.

haha I saw the audacio alright and was suprised to see the components had been downgraded.....I see your point re planet x and the CTW scheme. I appreciate your input and I'll definitely be taking your advice onboard! But for the moment I think I'll mull it over ...:)

Excuse my ignorance, is there a rule of thumb re the price of second hand bikes ? half price, half price plus something etc etc ?

    Just curious......

    2/3, 67%...but obviously it's just a guide.

Doesn't matter how new it is, second hand is second hand.

I would agree with the 800 euro figure. They are a very solid bike and I like Lapierre, but unfortunately they are overpriced and that is reflected in the larger depreciation.

800 for an aluminium frame with ultegra/105 mix and aksiums is not to be sneezed at though, are you putting the cash toward a new bike?

A 56cm frame should also be easy enough to move, it's probably one of the most common sizes in a man's road bike.

    Op,

What height of a person would this bike suit. Would it suit someone 6ft plus

So will if your bike is steel and has horizontal dropouts :)

Just wait till the carbon fixie becomes popular and you can make a fortune
