5 points on your licence and a fine or you can have a ban on your licence.

I was witness to an accident a few years ago, Gave my details to the Ban Garda, about 12 months later i was summoned for a load of different things. Licence, tax ,nct, not having them and non display (And i was only the witness).

Rang the Garda, who admitted the mistake and said she would sort it, that i didnt need to appear in court etc etc,

Next letter i got was for €1600 in fines and a ban on my licence for 12 months.

It got over turned on appeal in the Circuit Court and the Garda tried to make out this was all my fault... And i was only the witness to a third part accident

You may be able to get out of it with good legal advice. You cannot be given any legal advice on this forum. There are a small number of very good solicitors and barristers who are good at dealing with the section 56 charge. If you are in dublin you may be able to find one relatively easily.
