Taser Develops Phone APP to help parents spy on their children.

Taser, the company that has developed stun guns for cops for years have now come up with a mobile phone app that helps parents keep tabs on their child's mobile by alerting them of unusual incoming calls and text messages.

"Basically we're taking old fashioned parenting and bringing it into the mobile world," Taser chairman and co-founder Tom Smith said at the Consumer Electronics Show here, where the Arizona company unveiled the new product.

The phone application, called "Mobile Protector," allows a parent to screen a child's incoming and outgoing calls and messages, block particular numbers and even listen in on a conversation.

Of course this could be put to other uses like to help you see if your missus / fella is doing the dirt.

I was going to mention the Authorities but we know that they can have access to all this information already. :p

If parents raised their children better and with some common sense, they wouldn't have to spy on them and maybe they'd grow up independent, decent adults.

This is the same country where parents routinely medicate their kids for acting out... or send them to a Jamaican boarding school come concentration camp come psychological torture box, or generally screw the **** out of their heads and ruin them for life turning them into paranoid ****wits and call it 'Good Christian parenting'.

Yeah, doesn't surprise me the came up with something like this and call it a good thing

I hear what you are saying but these days there is so much technology and what not it is an even more difficult world to raise children in.

That's not an excuse. The technology the world had around WW2 was miles ahead of the technology throughout the 19th century. The same way the technology of today is miles ahead of that that was around during WW2.

Espionage isn't a replacement for parenting

I'm quite glad I'm not a kid anymore.

Not that my parents would have done things like that, but I know a few peoples parent who would have been well up for that sort of thing.

    i.e. nutters.

Difference is that todays technology is more transparent compared to anything in the past.

Not really...you don't HAVE to give your child a phone when they're 9 years old. You don't HAVE to let them on the internet unsupervised before they're 13.

According to this it can monitor their driving habits, through GSM, I think it is aimed at older kids. 16 to drive in thew US
