TOKYO -- Takashi Uchiyama knocked out Juan Carlos Salgado on Monday night to win the WBA super featherweight title, while Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym defended his bantamweight belt with a majority decision over Satoshi Hosana.
Uchiyama (14-0, 11 KOs) sent his Mexican challenger to the mat with a combination to the head late in the final round. Salgado (21-1-1) returned to his feet briefly before the referee stopped the bout with 10 seconds left.
In the co-main event, the 29-year-old Poonsawat (40-1) built up a solid lead in the middle rounds against Hosono (16-1). The Thai fighter then held on in the first defense of the title he won by defeating Bernard Dunne last September.
Two judges scored the bout 117-113 and 115-113, while the third scored it a draw.

If anyone knows of a link showing the fight or highlights it would be greatly appreciated. Sounded like a fairly exciting fight. Seems Hosono just couldn't hurt Poon. I think Poon would give Lopez a great fight. The guy is a monster.

I haven't seen it, but I would imagine poonsawats superior footwork was the major factor in this fight.

The 11th and 12th round are on Youtube aswell, and were put up by the same guy. He would have uploaded them in order so he probably just didn't have the 11th and 12th rounds up by the time the links were posted here.

I'm getting lazy in my old age so here's what I wrote on another forum about it rather than coming up with a new post:

'I had Poonsawat a clear winner(117-111) and I don't really see a way Hosono could have won the fight but there is quite a few close rounds and they did indeed stand toe to toe for long periods.

Poonsawat showed another side to him in this fight, he made the fight his by clearly winning the middle rounds, boxing from the outside and landing his ramrod jab repeatedly. He'd mix it up occasionally and both fighters would be succesful on the inside, with Poonsawat landing harder and cleaner and Hosono outworking him at times.

I told you OPBF fighters were of a very good standard and the Japanese fighter gave a very good account of himself in a great scrap.
I think if Poonsawat did things the hard way and just had a war with him the whole way through he'd have eventually stopped him, but he was right to fight the way he did and at times looked quite slick with his bobbing, weaving and slipping.

Poonsawat looked an all round very good fighter in this and once again proved his amazing chin and stamina. I think if Dunne were to watch that fight it would put him off the idea of wanting that rematch with Poonsawat.
Hosono landed some heavy blows at times and it made no imprint on the Thai, he is ridiculously tough and I'd suggest Celestino Caballero should vacate his WBA title when forced to meet Poonsawat.

Hosono did indeed show a great chin himself btw, there was only one point in the fight where I thought he was hurt a little. In the 3rd round Poonsawat landed 3 consecutive uppercuts(I think ?), and he held on.
But he actually dominated the rest of that round and really showed his toughness.

His nose was bloodied very early from Poonsawat's uppercuts and kept pouring from his consistant hard jab, so I'd say Hosono probably had problems breathing properly most of the way. Two very tough men, and I don't think there will be too many fighters stepping up to fight Poonsawat after that.

I do think Nishioka would love to though, if not for the fact he can't unify with the WBA ordinary champion. '
