Fagan, Kelly, Hyland and Eddie Hyland amongest others mean we have a crackin amount of SFW and LW fighters.

But this could be the next big fight. I know who I would support and I think I know who would win - what you reckon??

    Murray TKO/KO
I would have to say Murray by a close points margin

Wouldn't Eddie Hyland / Murray be a bigger fight.

Murray's class will be the deciding factor although Fagan will put up one hell of a fight I think Andy will just have too much. Murray wide UD.

I have the utmost respect for Fagan a true warrior, however if Andy uses his head and does not get involved in a brawl he should win easily on points. He is technically a better fighter and as an up and coming Irish fighter with European aspirations on his mind I hope he doesn’t slip up.

I saw Andy and Oisin stand beside each other after Andy’s last decent performance against McDonagh, (Oisin was handing over the Irish title belt) Andy is a lot taller which should be a big difference.

Murray like Lee needs to buck up on his defence, in recent fights he’s been allowing himself to be tagged, and getting involved in a dust up when its not necessary, against the opposition he’s fought so far he’ll get away with it but against better he’ll suffer badly. Fagan isn't the type of fighter Andy is suited to, Fagan kind of reminds me of Gorman. When Andy fought him he was lucky to win on a cuts decision.

Should be an interesting year ahead for the level headed 27 year old from Cavan.

I was there that night as well (was the undercard of dunne-marchiano)and though the size difference was fairly significant. Fagan is probably a weight class or two below him by right.

    Fagan TKO/KO
I think that Fagan V Muray is a great fight. That kid Bone gave Murray all he could handle in his last fight and he was an aggressive fighter, but there's none more aggressive or tough than Fagan, so I wouldn't be surprised of a big upset here. When is this fight on? I never heard it was announced- is it for certain?

    No, purely hypothetical.

I agree it would be a cracking fight but for Murray it would be a silly fight to take he doesnt need to fight Oisin hes ranked well ahead of him so there is nothing to gain from this type of fight there would be so much more gain for Oisin he would jump at the chance its a fight he could win, it would be hard and that would set Oisin right up for a possible EU or European Title whereas If Murray wins then it would be a hard fought decision in which Murray runs the risk of getting cut or badly
marked up and side lining him for a while with nothing realy gained from the win Internationaly.
It would be great for the fight fan and the promoter but a risk Murray doesnt need and i would suspect his Manager would pass on this one.

Oisin Fagan always gives value for money not sure about Murray even though he will probably win i just hope this fight turns out as good as people expect so many fights that are so built up turn into stinkers.

Murray on points.. he's on form and I don't think that Fagan would be up to it unless he gets him on a ko.

As far as I'm aware he doesn't(due to having never participated in a scheduled 8 round bout), but the BUI can make exceptions/change their rules so it's all down to them.

You could always email the BUI to get their stance on the issue.

I know Ian Timms had to fight an Eight rounder in Cork in December last to qualify for an Irish Title so i would say that fight for Barrett hasnt been sanctioned yet because Mel Christle the BUI president is a stickler for the Rules and i wouldnt be suprised if someone objected

They might use the prizefighter series as his 8 rounder as he went 3 x 3 rounders in 1 night......

I think Fagan might nip it by TKO if he can get on the inside and work him.....
Like to see if any bookies put any odds on card.

Thats 3 fights not an 8 rounder..

cant count that, but maybe they'll claim that it was 8 rd standard instead.

Paddy Power and Boylesports normally cover all Pro Box live main events and I think had odds for Fagan v Hyland so you should get them for this.

Of course if you ring them up you'll always potentially get yourself a bet, bookies don't like to refuse money if they can help it.

Absolute farce that stoppage - this is a Brian peters inspired stoppage, no mistake. Murray hammered him, but the whole "for his own safety" angle was all peters hype. Either knock him out. TKO, or at least stop it for an injury. Waste of time watching this

he looked like he was expressing an opinion that it was a premature stoppage - I would agree with him tbh

It was more a compassionate stoppage. You can argue that it was early, but in reality things weren't going to change. He was taking every shot full on, and his eye was closing which was only going to make him an easier target. Things were getting very one sided, and it was the right time to get him out of there in my opinion.

I was getting a little uncomfortable watching him take so many full blooded shots, and I was relieved when the ref stepped in. Oisin is a great lad, and he would never want to quit, but that's why sometimes you have to take the decision out of the fighters hands.

+1, sure the fight could have went on another round or 2 but Murray would have inflicted more damage on Fagan who I thought was really struggling after round 1 tbh.

Murray was good, not sure how far the lad can go all the same, does not possess a big knockout punch and his defence is still weak, how many times did he get tagged with the right in the first, legs would go from under him against John Murray or somebody of the calibre.

However great night for the Cavan man, hope he does go on and win the EBU belt.

I'm gonna' give him a pass on that one. I just think he was gutted to be pulled out, a decision that I fully agreed with. The chap was getting taken apart, taking too many shots and never was gonna' turn it around. Mismatch.

Hyland was good and bad and indifferent. That opponent was a flyweight. He was giving away about 6 inches, but he was ever so relaxed in there. Great to watch I thought.

He's actually a friend of mine so i didnt mean it in a bad way. I just thought it could have been saved for a different interview and not the one in the ring.

I went to the fight on Saturday. I thought Fagan won the first round clearly but after that it was all Murray. It could have been stopped a few rounds earlier as Murray was hitting Fagan at will. Hopefully Oisin retires now, any chance of Murray meeting McCloskey in the future?
