Hi, just looking for a bit of guidance and probably something i'm going to act on over next couple of months.

I have a Chartered Accountants practice in Galway and am finally making a move to hire staff. I've yet to fully decide on the level of staff needed and i'm looking for a bit of guidance for salary rates for the following:

    • Recently qualified ACA who can work through an audit on their own and bring a file to review stage
    • Have a second office in midlands. Employee here would need to be able to work on their own initiative a lot of time and be able to do work above. Obviously need to be more experienced and able to source/negotiate new clients also. Presuming an audit manager is the position i'm talking about here.
    • Part qualified ACA who can do work in point 1 above, but would have to have trained in a Big 4 or large accounting practice.
I know salaries have been reduced across the board recently, and i don't want to be slaving somebody, but just looking for a bit of guidance. Salaries would be based on a practice in Galway except the position in midlands.

    Cheers for the help

It depends where the ACA qualified from. Big4 are around late 40K.
Audit managers would prob go for 60K +
Part qualified in big4 around 30K-40K, depends on the firm and experience.

Would have to agree with the above regarding newly qualified, even coming from a practice that is not big 4, A newly qualified ACA is looking at 30-40K

I would agree with the above having hired a couple recently. One thing about the references to 'big4', if your practice is on the smaller side i would go for the guys who have trained in smaller practices as they would be more of an all-rounder.

+1 I thought that was an odd requirement for a practice with currently no staff that PQACA would have to be Big4 trained. I would suggest looking at qualifiers from a smaller practice too. I am working at a smaller firm and have a lot more experience in the areas required in a smaller firm than friends working in the Big4.
