    HI there

I know there is a similar post running at the minute but mine is slightly different. Myself and my OH are thinking of doing a tour of Ireland in August next and I am just looking for peoples opinions on "must go places". Big or small, pubs, hotels, b&bs, towns, villages, sight-seeing... whatever!! If you could suggest something to me it'd be great and i might then try to compile some sort of tour for us!

everyone would be different but here are some of my tips; most coming into the republic land at either dublin or shannon (shannons about 12 miles outside the republics third city of limerick)

the west coast of ireland is easily the most scenic, counties kerry, clare, galway, mayo, sligo and donegal each have their own beauty, county donegal (right up in the north west next to northern ireland) is the most rugged and untouched and for me the most scenic, its less touristy than galway, kerry or clare

galway city is a good place to base yourself for a few days, from there you can take day trips to clare (which has the burren, cliffs of moher and sites like aillwee cave), mayo (achill island, westport) and west county galway (connemara and the aran islands), obviously things in brackets i consider mustsees, leenane on the border of county galway and mayo has irelands only fjord

most visitors stay in killarney while in kerry, i would recommend to travel a bit further down the road to kenmare where its less touristy and cheaper, the national park is just as accessible from kenmare
