Ford Mondeo - Back Seat Jammed

Folks, I'm looking for some advice please. The back seat of my Mondeo is jammed in the horizontal position. I put the seat down to get a bike into the boot and now it will only raise to about 45 degrees. The seat belt (middle one) is jammed hard and I think it may be restricting the seat form moving back into the upright position.

Anyone any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Thanks

I had a similar problem with a Merc, may or may not be related.

Its I put the back seats forward to clean behind them. When I went to put the seat back up they would only raise about 10% of the way. Something was blocking the seat from going back up.

Turned out the seat belt was the problem. The seat belt in the middle seat is built into the shoulder of the seat. There should be a small plastic disc built into the seat belt to stop it retracting all the way into the seat. In my case the disc was gone so the belt went all the way into the seat and was then effectivily stopping the seat from coming up again as the was no play in the belt.

The only way I could solve this was to take the back part off the back seat and take the seat belt mechanism off the seat. Once the seat belt is in the upright position it will let you let-out the belt again. It think this is a safety feature.

Anytime I put the seat forward now I have to wrap the seat belt around the headrest to stop it from going all the way into the seat.
