Windows activation message

My laptop has a message coming up just before log in saying I have xxx amount of days to activate windows, yes or no. When I press yes it tell me windows is already activated. My question is, when this time expires, what will happen???:confused: how much hassle will I have or is there anything I can do before this. Thanks…
