I live in an apartment so don't have any bird feeders etc, I have been throwing bread and scraps out onto my balcony and onto the grass below for the poor birds. I have been soaking the bread in water as it's batch bread and the crust is hard. Is there anything else i can give them? Thanks

Maybe if you had the top from an empty box of biscuits or sweets and use this - you could easily clear it of snow each morning and add more food. Don't forget a little water for them also.

Being hungry the birds are approaching amazingly closely. I have a robin which goes into the garage and shares the food in the dog's bowl - yes, they eat at the same time and my dog is a big fellow not normally particularly friendly to birds or other wild animals.

We've been feeding them some porridge oats which they seem to enjoy. We got some peanuts for a new mesh feeder we got just beofre christmas but they haven't cottoned onto this yet.
