just look through a thread for the most thanked posts and read those instead of reading the thread in chronological order in an effort to save time?
I feel like I'm missing out on well argued and informative posts. This is all very unsettling.

I do it too. But in such a way that no one notices.

    Nope!
How do you know what the thread is really about if you do that?

I do it for those useless list threads, otherwise I read all the posts

Jesus OP, I'd never do that. I read every thread from beginning to end...

By the way, did I ever tell you that I was a compulsive lying bastard.

When there is a really looooooonnnnnnnnnnnnggggggg post i look at thanks, otherwise i dont bother 'cos it could be a waste of un-funny time, so i let the ppl of AH decide wether i should or not with Thanks:D

I do find my self paying attention to thanked posts or posters that I recognise more than other ones,

    But in my defence..
    • They stand out more
    • They are normally funny
    • A list needs at least three things to look important

This is why boards needs a jumpguy. He damn well knew nobody would look at a post unless it was thanked, and God dammit he made a difference.

Well OutlawPete, you spoiled it! I was hoping this entire thread would have no 'Thanks' in it.

I try to read most posts if I have the time.

I do notice some people get loads thanks even for the most basic comment. Just a taught

You play the guess what the thread is about game. It's actually surprisingly good fun and statistically as challenging as nintendo ds brain training.:)

No, I don't. Too often, I see posts getting no thanks when they deserve it. Or, not as much thanks as they deserve at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56 ✭✭Richiecats

No because that would be sad

    What's this thread about?

I just skipped to the end as there didn't seem to be any worthy posts...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Yup. I search for the most thanked post, save it and hopefully use it in a similar thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

A thanked post would generally catch my eye, but usually I go into a thread and read the first and second page. If it was short I might read it all, if long I'd leave it at that and then read the last 2 before posting (provided it was a good thread).

If its a big long political thread that ends up going 6 pages in 2 hours then I just read the thanked posts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,572 ✭✭✭✭brummytom

Nope, I read all the posts.

Sometimes when I'm shattered I go on auto-pilot and automatically thank posts that have already got a tonne of thanks :/
