Ok so im looking for a 02 Golf Gti or GT Tdi Anniversary model. Im trying to look for models made in germany(or europe) but cant find any links and i cant speak german! :). Just wondering does anybody know if its worth the trip going to germany to buy a car, are there any additional charges bar the vrt you pay coming in from the UK. If anyone has bought from germany before and thinks worth it (obviously for saving money reasons) can you post any links to sites that have an english version?. Thanks in advance.

ps. i know there are a few on done deal but the finances are not quiet theyre yet. Also if anyone here has one and thinking of selling theyre please let me know via pm. Thanks.

Why do you want to buy an LHD car? You'll have to replace the front lights for a start. Anyway, www.mobil.de is a good site for European cars.

That's all you need to do, but a pair of deflectors for 10 quids at Halfords is enough.
Nothing else to do, Ireland is the easiest country in Europe to register a car. Any car can be registered without having to go through heavy transformations like you would have in Germany, France, Lux, and many other places...

Now LHD have a lesser market value in Ireland, so 25% off the VRT, make sure you specify this in the VRT office the day you register it.

With the passat all you have to do it change the aignment of the headights is move a small lever inside the headlight assembly on each side to aim to the Left or the right depending on the side of the road you are driving on. Something simiar might exist for the Golf.

I used be meeting a girl before and her father had imported a car from Germany....a 04 E270cdi estate. It was a RHD as he had sourced it from the expat community over there, british diplomats etc. No VAT as it was within the EU just VRT.
