With the advent of digital radio is there any way of filtering out radio advertisements i.e. the radio is muted when there is a commercial break?

Perhaps this is unrealistic but when even the state broadcaster is commercial something has to be done.

    No.

No radio station would willingly sign up to anything that means their promo breaks will automatically go unheard. Advertising is literally all that most stations have to go on for revenue.

I change the station when an ad comes on, or go straight to a Cd or the MP3 player.
