Oh really? You should have looked up the hill, you would've seen three other vehicles including a 4x4 ambulance treating the injured and transporting the injured down to the waiting ambulances, So you see the Paramedics weren't just "Standing around"...!

I have a mental picture of Paramedics looking disgruntlely at Gardaí sliding down a hill on toboggans and inflated truck tire tubes.

Or looking at the Garda http://rc-snow-riders.com/v-web/gallery/albums/ECO-2004/Police_sled.jpg

actually i didnt see people sliding down the hil as it was dark and i was being diverted by garda,l i saw them walking down the road with their various craft ,there was everything from toboggans to surf mats to baby bathtubs to washing baskets,no wonder there was accidents, didnt see any car bonnets though. id say alot of people dont realise how fast you can actually shoot down the hill with no control over steering or stopping yourself, makes it pretty dangerous

    No worries there dom17;)

The number of incidents on Killiney Hill yesterday put a huge strain on local emergency service resources.

There appeared to be no thought for safety from many, including the parents of some children who, upon seeing the commotion, still persisted in letting their nearest and dearest risk serious injury by allowing them "bobsleigh" down the hill on anything from planks of wood to the already mentioned baby bathtubs and the like with metal poles and trees posing a huge risk of injury to all.

Attending Gardai and Paramedics did all they could in trying to dissuade people from sleighing down the hill, but many did not take heed, whereas others took the advice and refrained from going up the hill.

Maybe they should have been left to make their own way to hospital then? Leave the ambulances for people who we not injured through their own stupidity.

If I was not to treat and transport those who were injured as a result of their own stupidity, I would do about 5% of the calls that I have done over the last 2 weeks. Every drink related call that we do EVERY weekend would count as self inflicted stupidity !
